About NeighborBoard

The internet is a great tool for sharing information but perhaps it’s best to get to know your neighbors in person.

My name is Dakota, and I was having trouble finding a simple way to reach my Boulder, Colorado neighbors without relying on big tech. So I created NeighborBoard as a hobby project.

NeighborBoard is a shared, digital corkboard for real-world connection. Simple to use. Simple to share. With the ambitious goal of getting neighbors off their screens and connecting to each other in person.

NeighborBoard features:

  • RSVPs, neighborhood polls, and neighbor directories
  • Public or private posting options
  • Reduced digital noise by design
  • Free for everyone to use without ads, tracking, or selling your data

NeighborBoard is designed to help you show up for the people in your neighborhood.

How NeighborBoard works

NeighborBoard is a shared corkboard for your neighborhood.

Sign in without a password

Enter your email. We send you a one-time link to sign in—no password to remember. You can also use a passkey on your phone or computer if you set one up later.

Set up your profile

Optional contact information in your profile lets neighbors reach you when you make a post or share it in a neighborhood directory. You can choose to provide your home address to find other nearby boards or share it with neighbors.

Join boards and stay in the loop

Each board is one neighborhood group, shared by proximity or word of mouth. Boards work like email lists: subscribe to get updates about new posts. Or turn off email updates entirely and get updates through the site without any noise at all.

Post, poll, and RSVP

Share news, offers, or questions on the board. Choose a public post (anyone with the link can read it) or members-only. Add a poll to pick a date or gather opinions. Add event dates so neighbors can RSVP and you can see who is coming—without a long comment thread.

Reach neighbors when it matters

Each board has a directory of neighbors who have shared contact information. Tap to reveal email or phone, then call, text, or email to coordinate in real life—block parties, borrowing a ladder, or checking in after a storm.

Why use this over something like Nextdoor?

NeighborBoard is built specifically for connecting you to neighbors you’ll encounter throughout the week as you come and go from your home — not built to keep you scrolling.

  • Maximize real-world connections. Neighbors don’t need an account to open public posts—or to RSVP on a public event poll. Public posts are easy to share by text or email.
  • No reply threads. Posts stay short and clear. Neighbors respond by email, phone, or at the door instead of noisy public threads.
  • You’re in control. Share what information you want, when you want, with who you want. The site is free to use and does not sell or monetize your data.
